The Music of the Night

The Phantom is in MANILA!



The Phantom of the Opera is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux. Yup, and it is also my man's Favorite musical ever-since he was in High School. For 21 years, he has been listening to the songs of The Phantom of the Opera everyday. He's the only person that I know of, who really is almost a die-hard fan of the Phantom. Hihi. And so, ever since we dated, I started listening to the beautiful songs of this musical. Thanks to him, I started appreciating the Opera. Back when I was younger, when I hear the main theme of The Phantom of the Opera, it makes me scared and it makes me feel like there's a monster somewhere. Yikes! I simply didn't like the opening of the Phantom of the Opera. Up to this day even, it sends chills up to my spine. For 1 year and 4 months now, I have been listening most often with the songs of this musical. Oh, what beauty the Opera has to offer. My favorites are: "Masquerade", "The music of the night", "Think of me", "Wishing you were somehow here again", and of course, "All I ask of you." 
When J saw that The Phantom will be showing in Manila, we got excited. 
Well, actually, he was MORE excited. Hihi
Our show was on the 31st of August, 2012. It was on a Friday night.
It was held at CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo main theater.
The show was simply spectacular!

After the show, he bought me this. :)

He also bought me a pretty neat glow-in-the-dark shirt of the Phantom of The Opera which I will upload once we get to wear our "couple shirt." Hihi. So, ladies and gentlemen, watch out for it!

what joy it is to symbolize this by our month two celebration. 

February 6, 2012. 
Yes, the month very much appreciated by lovers, perhaps, all over the world.
In the Philippines, February is much awaited most especially by young couples, married couples and the like. I even have almost 3/4 of my family members celebrate their birth date on this special month. (So much for saving, huh?) :)) Well, if it's for the love of it all, then why not. ;) 
(We'll go further for Valentine's Day when you get lucky if I ever write about it) ;)
It was a monday. A school day. Before the sun totally rises, he calls to greet me a happy 2nd monthsary.
It was a wonderful monday, school day, actually. This only happens once a month, right? And it happens with the most favorite person in your life. Well, at least he's my favorite person in the world. 
I didn't know what to give him or what to do but I did have lots of silly (perhaps, even corny) plans.
In the afternoon, I went to Cello's dougnuts to customize a cute dougnut. With my fingers crossed, I hoped so much that he would like it. Better, if he would LOVE it. I had all the time in the world, so I wrote him a letter. *If he would upload the pictures that he took from that day it would actually help for you guys to see how cute the letter and doughnut was.*
I love writing and I love him so it was a perfect combination! 

Anyway, a few months back when we were still dating each other. I think it was the month of October when I gave him our little 'couple' glow in the dark green rosary. I got it as a complimentary token from a mass in Akic (Angelo King International Center, CSB School of Hotel and Restaurant Institution Management, 8th flr) that I regularly attend to every long class break. I decided to have two rosaries with me. One is for me and the other one is for him. I am a person of symbolism so I took the rosary as a symbol of Faith and Love for God. I told him to always bring it with him and I would check on his pocket almost regularly to see if he has it with him. I told him that if he lost it he shouldn't buy another one. (It was easy to buy another one since almost all Catholic stores has that glow in the dark, green, rosary). There was just this one time that he forgot the rosary in his other pants and I was just real sad. After that incident, (I believe) that he always did bring it with him wherever he goes.
A few months after that, with such clumsiness, I suddenly lost the rosary. Heart breaking, I know. I think that he felt sad also that I lost the rosary. Anyway, I didn't speak of the rosary much anymore but I told him also that if he could give me a rosary then I would be very happy. He said yes. :)

TENNEN! There you have it! For our month two celebration, Jimmy gave me this wood-bead rosary. What was funny was that when I first saw it, I thought it was mani (Peanuts sold on the streets)! Won't you just agree with me? Scroll up again and you'll see. I was like "Awww that's so sweet binigyan nya ako ng mani! (He gave me peanuts)". Hahah but when I took a closer look I saw the cross and my heart just started to act like cheese melted in the oven for an hour. It was a warm feeling to finally have the rosary that I've been eager to have ever since the day I lost ours.


Isn't it fantastic? I think that losing the green glow in the dark rosary was a purpose. Because if that hadn't been lost, then I wouldn't have something as precious as this Rosary from Germany.

He took out a voucher (J's a true believer of discounts, believe me) of the Red Mango. If I'm not mistaken I think he purchased it from Cash Cash Pinoy (CCPV). Usually the owner of the voucher is Jimmy himself. But he surprised me with having my name (Amanda Navasero) as the owner of the voucher. I mean! That was just cool! What was more cool was that when I showed the voucher to the Cashier of Red Mango, they already had my name in the 'list'. I was like, "Ang galing! (That's so COOL!)" They highlighted my name and poof! There goes the yogurt! 

Yup! A heavenly treat. :)



For every P300 purchase, you could pay only P150. Or you could exchange the voucher for three (3) GCs.


As much as I want to tell more about our month two celebration, I guess all I have to say is that I'm happy. That's what important in a relationship.
Being happy with the one you love is priceless ~

With One Look

One of my favorites. It's from an old turtle. An old wise turtle. We get to become wise enough as years of learning pass us through. Sometimes, we don't get to feel that time has already passed us by. We choose to learn or not to learn from our mistakes yesterday, it's just up to us on how to apply those of which we chose to learn and turn it into our present. Tomorrow is a mystery that is to unfold. We'll never know how our tomorrow might just reveal. 

I have a story to tell you that happened on a not so very long time ago. A recent true story of a lady who had lost her best friend's necklace instead of her life.
We may never know how people can be with one look. We can never tell if people has good or bad intentions with just one look.
This lady was walking with her two wonderful friends in the street of Pedro Gil, Philippines. She was carrying with her a plastic cup filled with delicious Milk Tea from Tea Central (Taft). She and her friends were on their way to Robinson's Ermita to buy things. They were laughing and not really bothering of what the people may be up to in the busy street. Of usual daily basis, they encountered a young man of age 16 begging the lady for her Milk Tea. The lady then hesitated because her drink just tasted extra yummy and she wouldn't dare just give it to the beggar. She looked at the eyes of the young beggar. His eyes had that shine of hunger and thirst for the Milk Tea. When the lady was about to give the Milk Tea away to the beggar, his eyes of a sweet beggar swiveled to eyes of a hungry thief. He quickly stretched his hands, gripped tight on her necklace and pulled hard! The necklace broke instantly with the force he mastered. He quickly ran away from the crowd with the necklace on his hand. People from behind the lady approached to see if she was hurt or what but she was perfectly fine with her eyes still set on where the young beggar was. Stunned as she is, a man was willing to run after that thief but he looked too old to run and gave her a look of being sorry for the necklace. It was a rather quick happening that time that she wouldn't move for a while and her friends were just rubbing her neck because of the force. She didn't know what to do, at first, but she then told her friends, "Buti na lang hindi buhay ko ang kinuha niya." (It's good that he took the necklace instead of my life) After that, she was conscious not to wear jewelry in the streets of Metro Manila ever again. ~


To your left is a gift I received from my man's mommy, Tita Carrie P. Dumlao, dated 11/11/11. I am that kind of person that easily gets touched to even the small things done. But in this event, this is not just any ordinary small thing, this is a BIG thing!






Tita Carrie just came from a reunion in the states and when she came home she got me this wonderful pasalubong.

Pasalubong is a Tagalog word meaning "souvenir".
Pasalubong is very popular among Filipinos if good relations are to be maintained. The gesture of handing out "pasalubong" conveys that loved ones or friends are being remembered. 

  

There goes the touchy part!
Pasalubong is given if good relations are to be maintained. This means that I guess Tita Carrie wants to have a good connection with me. What's awesome here is that we haven't even met, yet! Yes. Not yet. 





When I first opened the pasalubong, I was really grateful and thankful. I was smiling already when I was opening the box because I knew deep inside that whatever I'll see inside would be very beautiful. Lalo na't galing sa mommy ni Jimmy. (Especially if it's from Jimmy's mommy)




As soon as I opened the box I gasped, "Sosyal."
Carefully taking the genuine red leather wallet out of its box, I knew exactly what to do next. SMELL. Yup! I smelled the wallet and it has this distinguished scent of leather and "newness." In perfect timing filled with excitement, I thanked his mom through thanking him as well. Ahh yes. Owning something as lovely as this wallet that came from a person who thought of me even in the glimpse of their 
busy schedule is purely of great honor.

So basically I haven't used this genuine red leather wallet.
YOU might be wondering why, huh? Try scrolling up and read the story that I told. Yes. That lady was ME. 
You now know how much valuable this wallet to me is, right? Yup. Like what you're thinking now, I surely do not want to risk the life of this wallet out on the busy streets of Metro Manila.
Jimmy's parents asked him why I haven't used the wallet yet and he told them that I'm afraid I might lose the wallet from the busy streets just like that. 
Don't worry, I will use this wallet, just not now. Perhaps when I'm already working. Perhaps when I am already in the Glamorous world of Travel and Tourism, then I can show off this glamorous wallet to the world without fear. :)

To Tita Carrie, I offer my 5th blog entry to you. You may or may not get to read this entry but I just want to thank you so much for remembering to bring me home a pasalubong. All the more that even if we haven't met yet I am truly, madly, deeply thankful I have received this present from you. =)

Dear Diary

I've always had a diary since I could remember.
 ~ But what if there was a video diary? The secrets of all secrets might be revealed in just one click! The embarrassing moments of all time might just get embarrassingly scattered to the public! Life would collapse when that happens to me. I do own a diary and I own my very own blog as well. I know what not to put in this blog and what I should keep in my diary. Treasures kept only to yourself and opened up in the future when we get to forget the simple days that just passed. 


I've given my very close friends their very own diary for their birthday. They told me that they don't like having diaries 'cause there are nosy family members who secretly read the diary and next morning you'll get surprised that they knew your 'secret'. I hate family members who don't respect your private things. It's as if letting their selves inside your world without any permission. Sheeesh! So you guys out there who read private things, please do stop. I'm sure you don't want the same thing, right? :) Well, anyway... 
I told them that nothing gets better in writing down your thoughts and finding yourself smiling for the simplest reason of remembering a sweet memory. Just always bring your diary with you. Hahah

Today, I thought of typing down my random thoughts about having a personal diary. 
It works for women, believe me, and I know it can probably work with men as well. 


When angry we could just write our mad thoughts scribble them down like crazy and after a while it'll just go like--poof! No more angry bird! After scribbling those crazy mad thoughts we could just rip the page off and throw it in a safe trash bin. Yung hindi mahahalungkat ha? :) Or your choice of leaving it there in your diary/journal. It's always your choice.

Grabe ang tagal na! Almost 6 months have passed and if only you could see the progress of my diary--it got FAT. Hahaha I have a healthy diary. Filled with receipts, tissue papers, movie and concert tickets, petals and so much! :) I'm getting kilig na! Hihihihi ~ 
 I love writing ever since I was little and it inspires me in a lot of ways. I don't mind having my hands real tired at the end of the day telling stories of what happened to me. Plus, with my excessive writing I learned to have a nice hand-writing. That's what other people say and somehow I do believe that I have a pretty hand-writing. :))

"Enchanted" dreams of mine

Fashion Designer!


Entering College, Fashion Design Merchandise was one of my top three choices. Tourism wasn't even in my list! So I took Production Design as my course in College and shifted to Travel and Tourism Management. (I'll tell you guys later on how and why I shifted) :)
One day I'll have fashion designing as my side line. That would be super coooool!


Last Monday (072511), my bespren Patritot and I watched the movie: Enchanted.

I loved every bit of the movie. Of course, I loved watching it with me dear best friend. 


Giselle (Amy Adams), was just pure princess-like. I liked how she executed her role as a fairy tale princess who came out of the Cartoon world. Her broad way acting even moved me that I like to be just like her. To sing as good as her. (I've always wanted to be a Broad way star) To be weird. To be different. To be dreamy-ish. Haha! Crazy as it seems this is how I am.

My sister even thought this was my singing voice when I played it at our house.

Why not, right?
Filipinos love to sing and I am a Filipino.
Well, fine, sometimes I feel like my voice is worth listening to. What the heck!
Let's just sing and be merry! Noh? :)

This is the main thing about this entry. I enjoy every bit of Giselle's dress. Soon, I will make something like this! Yes! In God's will! :) In the movie, this was made out of Robert's curtains. I found it cute because creativity can really come out of different styles. We all are different and we all got different styles. It's just how you can pull it off. :)

Her name is Ma. Patricia P. Dabu.


And I love her so much. :))

She now lives in Batangas. 


We have this long distant best friend relationship.

It's hard to have your most favorite friend live away from you, noh? But it's okay, I'm getting a bit used to it. 

She's like a sister, a mother, a twin to me. And I'm sure I'm just the same with her. Sooooo now, I'm writing this blog because I miss her. :))


A photo on your left is a shot of me and my best friend. We were still in the 4th grade at that time and I invited her over for my birthday. Who would've thought that up until now we'd be the best of best friends, right?

Pictures does tell a story, how I wish I could sit next to you and just talk about anything. Make kwento about anything. :) That would be real fun, noh? 







Photo to your left was last Sunday (072411) when we came from SM Makati. We were on a taxi there going back home that's why the photo looks like it's moving. Hahah 

Every bit of minute with my bespren is happiness! You should try being with her. There's no dull moment with my bespren. Yupyup! Hahaha 
Super love ko bestfriend ko noh? :) I'm just truly blessed to have her as my very best friend.

Black and White

I've always admired Black and White photos of almost anything actually. It speaks more to the audience. It adds drama. I appreciate a lot of little beautiful things and even as an artist with an eye, I would definitely go with a black and white photograph.  
I've been taking pictures since my mom first taught me. (Can't remember how old I was back then) I even experienced "developing" my own pictures. 
My mom taught me a lot of things especially in Photography. 
And now, I guess this will be the first step to having my very own blog of just anything that will have to do with photographs and travel combined. 


Of course there would be a lot of other things than just Pictures and Travel. I could write anything! Anything that would just make my day seem out of the ordinary. Haha




Wouldn't that stir you up? Get ready for more of my posts. I've done one post before, seen on Facebook, it is entitled:
